How to Relax Stop Being Busy Take a Break and Get Better Results While Doing Less edition by Martin Meadows Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Martin Meadows cuts right to the point as he does in all his books. Great practical advice, a lot of it not found elsewhere or at least presented in an uncommon manner.
Amazing book. I have read several of this author's books and I am in awe. That - ah ha moment- that moment of truth is priceless. Yet this is what I have experienced again and again in the pages of All of his books. I feel like I have stumbled into a
treasure chest of wisdom and truth. My only regret is not knowing about this author years ago!!
Martin's approach in presenting new and diverse techniques (to relax and reduce stress) was succinct and effective. I actually reviewed all the end notes as well...to glean some additional ideas for reading. Oh by the way, the book's short length enables slower readers to receive a lot of good info with very little stress...worrying about how much they have left to read! Great job!
Martin Meadows has a way of sharing his experience and research in a way that promotes self understanding. He doesn't give a cure-all but rather a few different methods that he has personally experimented and have worked for him, all the while giving reference to other sources for the curious mind. His book is not at all an argument of what methods are the best. Instead, he encourages the reader to test out the methods and see that they work first hand. I enjoyed his book. It was an easy read. And all of his ideas and methods made sense and feel easy to implement with out feeling overwhelmed. I will incorporate them in my busy life.
Exactly what I needed as a reminder!
By applying some of the strategies suggested by Martin, I feel like now I can get back to early AM club, be more productive and finish early, which allows me to have more time. I got hooked on his books and ordered quite a few of them, together with audio versions to listen on the go.
Obviously, reading one book or learning one trick will not make you relax but there are many helpful small tips to help you move towards a relaxing existence. These tips and activities are small and easy to incorporate into your everyday life that can change your way of thinking and some habits to get rid of stress - even stressors that you didn't even realize were there. Some are easier said than done but they are all building blocks to brain and behavior changes.
Worth a read.
Are you busy and overstressed? Do you desire to rest but struggle to get adequate sleep? How well can you recharge, regain energy and focus? If you want more rest but are unsure of where to begin, How to Relax is a great book to open up avenues and ideas for relaxation.
Martin Meadows provides a balance of practical advice, tips, and scientific research for resting and recharging both your body and mind. His chapters are short, straight-to-the-point, pragmatic with a recap following each chapter. His advice ranges everywhere from meditation to nap-taking, noise reduction to nature escapes, allowing yourself time to play, et cetera.
How to Relax is a brainstorm of research-supported ideas for resting and recharging so that you can be the most productive you can be. It's strengths are in the breadth of topics and methods it offers, while providing relevant examples that almost anyone can relate to. Meadows is not a doctor or counselor, however, and does not delve into issues of the heart and motivations. This book meets a person who already has some desire for change, regardless of worldview or reasons, and helps to give them practical tools to accomplish their personal desire for rest and rejuvenation.
Wow, 93 pages to administer the same advice every other person gives. Eat better, sleep more, disconnect, have more interpersonal time. There, just saved the reader an hour.
